An under-par Perthshire Mens 2nd XI recorded one of their poorer performances this season in away game last Saturday against Harris III.
With an enforced lay off the weekend before due to the weather the Shire team looked out of sorts. Harris started the game brightly with an initial goal coming early in the first half after the ball became partially lodged in Steven Millar's pads and fell to a Harris player on being dislodged. By half time Harris secured another goal. The second half saw Harris add a further two goals, including a controversial fourth goal that proved the catalyst for a period of ill-tempered hockey late in the game that culminated in one Harris player being sent off.
Perthshire's attacking duo Ben MacFarlane and Keiron Toole were able to create some chances, though Harris's defence stood strong, allowing the team to record an eventual four-nil win. Also notable was Gordon Loudon's appearance in the second half, which added a cutting edge to the midfield and attack.
With no fixture this coming weekend the Shire 2nd XI will be back in action on Saturday 13 March in a home match at Auchterader against Wanderers IV (Pushback at 11.30)
